Links - February

I've found myself writing a lot of blog entries just in order to bookmark/archive/link to useful websites that I've found, particularly artists I'd like to keep an eye on, so I've decided I will add one entry per month dedicated to simply linking to these sorts of sites.

After the jump, you'll find the links/artists for February...

A Walk In The Park

Went for a walk through Wollongong on Sunday. Ended up finding this tap and a wild rabbit. "Cool story Hansel".

Arc Icarus at The Harp

Haven't uploaded Flickr photos in a long while. The photograph below was taken a few weeks ago at The Harp in Wollongong, when Arc Icarus supported Sleep Parade (21st January 2010). It was the only photo I was happy with from the night, and even then I don't think it's that spectacular ... but people seem to be responding well to it. Pictured: Dominic Connor - Arc Icarus Vocalist.

Camera Toss and Boudist

Just adding a quick blog post to archive some old favourite sites that I'd lost track of along the way, and wanted a record of so that I can revisit them in the future.

The first is a blog that I found (or maybe Murray found... I can't remember) which is about camera tossing. The video on the blog is pretty cool (shot on a Canon 5d MkII !!) and the example photos are awesome too. I'm not sure how confident I'd be when tossing my camera in the air to get a photo, but mayyybe I'll try it one day.

The other sites I wanted to link to were Daniel Boud's (Boudist) old archive of photographs and his current website/blog. Boud is one of the best live music photographers around at the moment... easily up there with Tony Mott, and he also took my favourite photo of The Butterfly Effect ever. He is insanely good at what he does.

So I haven't written any blog entries for quite a while. Just didn't take many photos in January. I did take a lot of photos on my trip to New Zealand, but haven't decided if any will venture into the world of Flickr yet.

While I was there however, I did buy the Semi-Permanent 2009 book

I also found a really cool design magazine (can't remember what it was called now) and I wrote down a couple of the artists/companies whose work I wanted to look up when we got back. Here are some of the better ones:

Most of them just do really cool illustrations. Definitely worth looking at.

EDIT: I've just been looking through Steve Tierney's design portfolio and I really like this magazine design for the film 'Candy'...
